Bye Blogger

Since I have switched to WordPress, it is a little too much effort to repost everything over here. So if you are looking for more recent posts, go to troubleanddisorder.wordpress.com

So long!

Dear Evolution

Why don’t thoughts structure themselves completely on their own? Nature had so much time (how many billion years?) to perfect our evolutionary process, why would she leave that crucial crucial detail out of the equation?

Just imagine: you think “blue” and in an instant, you have all the associations with that concept in a neat exel-document, ordered by relevance and frequency of use. Now imagine the same thing with a concept like “climate”. You have to admit, its in nature’s own best interest to get our brains a little more organized.

We should write a petition:

Dear evolution,

we know you are very busy with whatever you are doing. We have one small request. In the near future, could you, if in any way possible, focus some of your mutation-potential on the efficiency of our minds? And while you’re at it, please get rid of stupidity and bad breath.

Thanks,

yours truly,

humanity.

Pink Clouds of scholarly Chili Chocolate

Who ever invented the idea of published scholarship? For the most part it merely seems to be a way of letting egocentric book-worms and know-it-alls publish their rants and pseudo-intellectual brain-farts. Not to mention the torture potential on frustrated students who are leafing through all of this because their profs cleverly hide it under the pseudonym of 'secondary literature'.
Another thing that stinks about this is how the titles of these 'scholarly articles' always sound so promising. The actual articles are of course utter nonsense. Its like a trap. How could you NOT read something called "Nonsubtantial Individuals"? Or even better "The Meaning of All". The tiny voice in the back of your head, warning you not to get too excited, its probably garbage like all the rest, is quickly silenced. The title is just too good! Waahhhhh! So you read it. And you get brainwashed and end up dumber than before. And this, my child, is what we call scholarship.

Chili Chocolate is The Best. Ever since the doctors stuffed my mouth with ultra-high-spice-degree chili peppers each time Fritz came to visit, my taste budds seem to like some adventure. The degree to which chili and chocolate melt together! And yet the taste of one always preceeding the other (first chocolate then chili)... oh, the thrill!

--> Topic change

I have decided to finally give air to my long since entertained and uncompromisable opinion, that the english language should start spelling their nouns with higher case letters. It would pay these words the respect that they deserve. A castle simply is not the same as a Castle.

People, especially large crowds of people still piss me off. Aka, stay away from me!
PS: ....its nothing personal...

Please tell the newsperson in the radio that spreading 'facts' like "The ash-cloud will prevent Europe from having an actual summer" ARE POTENTIALLY DETRIMENTAL TO PEOPLE WITH TENDER SOULS! Just, keep it to yourself and let us Europeans stay in our tiny pink cloud of oblivion and bliss... thanks.

Shazam!

This is the result of letting Caro think for too long with no external inhibitors:

A circle, an endless one. An illusion of 'beauty' given to us by the necessity of evolutionary survival to make up for our intelligence, which is great enough to realize the absurdity of all living things. And yet, although aware of this treachery, we take it and we live. For what? For nothing; and that is the beauty of it! A circle, an endless one. If any of you actually read this entire paragraph word for word you are to be pitied. Which brings me to something else: Humans in general are to be pitied. The concept of 'man' is so mindblowingly absurd, it hurts. Think about it, and even better: observe! Just place yourself somewhere among people and watch. Its abject!

Too much negativity in one post. I do apologize.

New Obsessions

I thought it was time to update my obsession-list:

1) French is still a major thing, though recently there has been a lot less improvement in terms of vocabulary, pronounciation is getting better....

2) Guitar is still up and running, sadly only in my mind.... no access to an actual instrument

3) The book obsession has reached a different level: since I'm out of funds, the library has become my new best friend. Though an important point might be, that the genre of books has a lot more to do with my research obligations than usual (what else would make me borrow 20 books on late baroque organs?). I am also still lecturaly digesting the numerous victims of my bookstore-by-everything-you-see-fits. Last time I checked, I still have to read 12 of them...

4) Salome. Don't ask. Or maybe do!

5) Aristotle and his relationship to baroque organs. ... no wait. Ok scratch that!

...

to be continued...

There is more but I'm hungry and the library doesn't provide much in terms of culinary treats.

Need. To. Eat.

Headquarters hit by helicopters!

There is another event that you are now hereby obligated to attend: my choir is performing on July 24 and July 25. See this luxury? ... you have two days to choose from.

I was very recently rather unvoluntarely supported in my opinion, that the senses are all very important, but the worst one to loose, for me, would be my hearing. The scariest and most shocking hours of my life, during which this said hearing was gone, are impossible to describe in their horrible factuallity. This is hereby a plea to all the 'supernatural' that might or might not exist (probably not) to save me from ever being permanently deaf.
I have my ears back, in case that got lost somewhere in the above lines... though not to 100%. It should be completely fine in a few days, 'till then you gotta speak up when talking to me and not be weirded out when I keep staring at your lips!

Now to a more cheery topic: I have developed an excessive amount of freckles, due to unusually long and frequent sun exposure. My glasses are causing a rather special tan-line...

It is taking exemplary self-control not to give in to the urge of eating all the awe-inspiring books around me (I'm sitting in the Art History Library). I'm not sure why I want to eat them, but it seems my unconsciousness is of the opinion that a culinary intake will be the fastes way of information acquisition.

It is Monday. The whole week is ahead and I can't wait to see what happens next!

See you soon,

Take Two!

Hi dudes,
thats right, its been a while. Reasons: many. Explanations I will give here and now: none.

Second semester started a week ago. I'm taking fewer classes this time but they all promise to be somewhat more intense. For example: HEGEL (Booom!) - You get the drift.

Now, talking of intense, Orchestra will be epic: we 'll be playing Beethoven's 'Eroica' and some other less important stuff. So you are hereby obligated to come to the concert (sometime in June...)... WORK IT!

In case you are wondering, yes, I am in an unusually good mood. Too much sun is the simple answer. Too many good ideas for my paper make it a little more comlicated. Lets just go with the simlpe one for now:... My weekend was sunny. Yay!
Now the complicated version: ... my weekend was sunny and Aristotle's opinion on substances and their parts (!) make my head go 'woooooooo gotcha!'

I think this is enough madness for you to work through after such a long time off. See you soon!
