When time stands still... I wish that could actually happen

A'riiiiigth!
I haven't been home much recently and my computer is still on strike so again I would have had much to tell but have not told you anything.

Classes still haven't started and I am slowly but surely going insane with anticipation. With too much time on my hands I have not been very productive so don't expect much from this update. Lets just pretend almost no time has past in the last three weeks and you will all act amazed at how much I managed to do. Good! Here it goes:

1) Sushi
I have found a cheap AND amazingly tasty sushi place in Heidelberg after three months of intense craving. The year is saved!

2) Books
I have now acces to all the books in the University Library (3 point something Million). If you don't hear from me for a while-...

3) Money
Yes, I ran out of it. No, it wasn't really that bad. No, I don't hink I ever want money. But yes, it does feel good to have some money again. Confused? Yah, me too.

4) Personalities
Think of 10 hours. Imagine these 10 hours spent by a bunch of people, travelling on the train, walking through Heidelberg, and having dinner all while having one continuous conversation that goes somewhat like this:
- Ok go!
- Is the person female?
- No.
- So it is male.
- Yes.
- Is he still alive?
- Yes.
- Is he an artist in the broad sense of the word?
- No.
- Is he not-European?
- Ye- no... what?
- Is his nationality something non-European?
- Yes
- Is he a political figure?
- Yes.
- Is he Obama?
- YES!
.... 2 minutes of thoughtful brain recking silence..... then:
- I HAVE ONE!
- OK! Is the person male?
- No.
...
... etc.
You are now entertaining a mental picture of how I spent last Sunday.

5) Konstanz
Any German person who migth have something against Canadians could have come to Konstanz this weekend and have a whole bunch of 'em right in one chatting, laughing, running, giggeling, finger-pointing, architecture-appreciating, schnitzel-eating group. I don't know what he could have done with them but lets not ruin the literary finesse of my sentence... It was the best weekend in Germany so far. I don't hava any pictures but google Konstanz and Meersburg and you will get an idea of how beautiful it is there.

6) Laundry
It is waiting for me in the washing mashine, ready to be dried.
Aka: I gotta go.

Spätzle and Jägerschnitzel everyone!!!!

Berg-de-Heidel

Its been a while since my last post and that is due to several things, none of which I am going to mention here and now.
I'm in Heidelberg for a week and a half now. I got a nice room in a student residence right in the old city centre. It gets a little loud at night with all the pubs and clubs right across the street, but other than that the location is amazing. I'm not a fan of the status of the shower-curtain in my shared bathroom but I think I shall spare you the details...

There is one question I keep asking myself: what do you do in a little beautiful town at the end of summer with no school for another month? I haven't really found an answer yet but this is what I have been doing these past days:

1) have some food.
It turns out all the people I have met here so far eat just as passionately as I do. Thats good for the spirit and stomache party of Carolin (SSPC) but bad for the wallet and waist-line party of Carolin (WWPC). With major German elections coming up on the 27th that's sure going to be a decicive factor.

2) walk around the city to exlore future locations for more food, and try every hot chocolat in town
Rules to follow for this activity:
A: avoid being run over by streams of tourists on Hauptstraße
B: follow your nose, if it smeels like yummi food it IS yummi food
C: do not trust appearences, if the place looks cosy and original its probably not
D: a cold or warm Hot Chocolat is a bad Hot Chocolat!

3) stand around with a bunch of cool people waiting for someone to meet us only to mutually agree a few hours later that that person is probably not coming any more... good times

4) go on a hunt for good and cheap grocery stores. this sounds easier than it is... trust me!

5) watch the amazing fireworks on the Old Bridge and cheer as the castle burns down once again (please don't misunderstand...)

6) take a somewhat-spontaneous hike into the mountains. This includes seeing gigantic spiders doing Yoga in midair, drinking directly from a cold water spring, and making plans for a possible future "midnight-hike" (who's in???)

7) making a trip to IKEA and spending 2 hours playing some Capoeira while waiting for the Bus back home

There's been lots more exciting stuff but its safe to say all of it had something to do with food, in one way or another. It might get a bit monotone to mention all of it here. I will pick and chose some for next time.

Thats it for now! I'm dying of thirst! And I think a little afternoon snack could be nice as well...
